Visual arts play an important role in the economic and social development of nations by promoting cultural expression, economic growth and social unity. This paper evaluated the roles of visual arts in nation-building and suggests practical strategies for effectively using art to promote economic development and social advancement. Drawing insights from art history, sociology and political science, the study highlights how visual arts can support sustainable development. Through the analysis of policy frameworks and selected case studies, the paper established how artistic practices can be better harnessed for national growth. It also stresses the need to create inclusive platforms that allow diverse voices and perspectives to contribute to development processes. The study concludes that effective implementation of visual arts initiatives can strengthen nation-building by fostering social cohesion, promoting cultural identity and building more inclusive societies thus recommends the continuous development of cultural policies that priortises visual art development.
